Press for Ascent Syrah Sierra Foothills:
- 94 points -Terre Rouge Ascent Sierra Foothills 2003
"Given the success of past Ascent bottlings, we are not surprised by the depth and concentration displayed by this brooding, big-shouldered young wine...it deserves a place in the cellars of all dyed-in-wool fans of California Syrah".

- 91 points - 2002 Ascent Syrah Sierra Foothills
There are only 400 six-packs of Terre Rouge’s flagship wine, the 2002 Syrah Ascent. Its inky/purple color and beautiful blackberry/floral perfume are followed by opulent creme de cassis, cherry, blackberry, licorice, smoke, and new oak flavors. This powerful, mouthfilling, seamless Syrah stains the palate, but has no hard edges. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. — Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, June 30, 2005
- 92 points - 2001 Ascent Syrah Sierra Foothills“... Full-bodied and opulent, this big yet well-balanced 2001 can be drunk now, or cellared for a decade.
An impressive effort, it is unquestionably the finest Syrah produced in the Sierra Foothills.”
— Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, August 2004
- 94 points - 2000 Ascent Syrah Sierra Foothills
“The finest Rhone Ranger effort I have ever tasted from the Sierra Foothills is Domaine de la Terre Rouge’s 2000 Syrah Ascent (the price reflects the quality in the bottle). Bravo!
— Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, August 2003
New Press for Enigma:
- Michel Phaneuf Guide (Quebec) for 2006; 'Excellent' - 'Grappe d'Or' - "Top Ranked"
In the center of California, in the buttresses of the Sierra Nevada
(Foothills Sierra), the producer Bill Easton makes broad use of Rhone-
native type of vines and works out a wine range of good quality of
which the excellent Enigma vintage. Marsanne, Viognier and Roussanne
give an expansive wine, open, perspiring plenitude and offering a
passably rich aromatic pallet. Good wine with the wine tableau, of a
very Mediterranean boldness and strong character that is very
satisfying. A wine to drink over the next three years.(four stars)

- 89 points - Terre Rouge High Slopes Sierra Foothills 2003
“Here is a big, bold, tannin-laden youngster that will win no near term praise for prettiness or polish, but its impressive depth and very solid center of complex, mildly meaty, oak-infused berries very much sets it on the track of long-term success”.

Zinfandel. When there’s a steak on the grill, a great zinfandel fits
the bill. By “great” I mean claret-like: balance, not too alcoholic,
with no residual sugar. It should be complex enough to inspire some
intellectual analysis without the paralysis of misplaced worship, as
so often happens with “cult’ Cabs. Notable producers; Rosenblum,
Ravenswood, Storybook Mountain, Folie à Deux, Chateau Potelle, Easton.
