SKU: TR_1992_N

Noir was the genesis of Terre Rouge as a winery. Our first wine produced in 1986 was a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, simply called Reserve Red. In later vintages this wine was called Noir, for its dark color. Reminiscent of the great wines of the southern Rhône, like Gigondas and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

A very limited number of bottles is available direct from the winery only. This wine has been well stored in our library and is drinking beautifully, 21 years after being bottled.

This is a NET Price. The wine does not receive a discount, but counts towards a case with other wines.

Not only is this wine special for its age, but also because the Grenache vineyard, then 80 years old, is gone. This Grenache has the characteristic plum and black cherry flavors you would expect. The Mourvèdre from our Fiddletown vineyard adds the smoke and game flavors. The Syrah here was from one of our Shenandoah Valley sites. This wine was made for the long haul, and now has opened up into a gorgeous expression of a Sierra Foothill Rhône wine.

Please make sure to stand this wine for at least a day before you open it to let the sediment settle to the bottom, then carefully decant and enjoy.
