Winemaker Bill Easton is one of the orginal Rhône Rangers and pioneered the Rhône varietals in the Sierra Foothills in the late 80's. His wines are balanced and elegant with complexity that develop as the wines age in bottle. The French call it élevage, which is "raising" the wine in the bottle before drinking. There is an art to this style of winemaking and there is great pleasure in drinking a wine that has just started to show what it will be.

They will sign for the wine and hold it for 5 days until you can pick it up. All FedEx shipments will go out at the beginning of each week. Alternatively, we can ship to a business address if needed.

The Monarch MIne Vineyard, at 2500' elevation above Auburn, is one of our very special vineyard sites. Our Sauvignon Blanc, Roussanne, Cabernet Franc and Barbera all come from this old mine site.
This Syrah has unique savory character coming from the four clones of Syrah planted here - 877,174, Noir & 99.The fermentation took place with 50% whole cluster fruit mixed with de-stemmed and lightly crushed fruit, and hand punch-downs.

We have worked with the Jay Wilderotter Vineyard in the Shenandoah Valley for over 15 years. In the best years we bottle some of this fine syrah separately. Only 100 cases were bottled for our club members. A small amount of this wine is left in our cellar and it is drinking beautifully with savory spice tones. This is a special bottling that you will enjoy.

This 2013 is very elegant, complex, and lively. Grenache’s savory plum and black cherry flavors, coupled with Mourvèdre’s smoky gaminess, and Syrah’s powerful punch and richness. This is a dead ringer for a top Southern Rhône, say a Châteauneuf-du-Pape or Gigondas.

Our single vineyard Syrah is from the oldest Syrah vineyard in the Sierra Nevada (est. 1982) and one of the most famous Syrah sites in California. The parcel is planted all on its own roots. The vines originate from the Chapoutier Hermitage property (UCD Clone 1).

We make ony 300 cases each year of this wine from a vineyard in Fiddletown that we have worked with since the early 90's. At 2000', this vineyard ripens in late October and is the last to arrive at the winery during harvest. Try this wine with anything off the grill, smoked meats, or roasted lamb.

DTR Ranch Syrah is made from grapes planted at our Fiddletown home ranch in 1999. This Syrah is a true reflection of the place the vines live, which is our coolest vineyard site, ripening in late October. The combination of granitic soils and cool 2000' elevation provide fruit for one of our most complex syrahs.

This is our new "go to" week night wine to have with burgers, hanger steak, or herb roasted chicken. A blend of syrah and cabernet from our mountain vineyards, it drinks very rich and smooth with a touch of our local garrigue.
